2008Myths about your period
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by on 20-09-2008
Talking to a friend today about our monthly delight, I heard the most appalling myth about what you should do during that time of the month to help alleviate the seemingly inevitable pains and mood swings, also known as PMS.
So I figured I should dispel some well known myths that have been passed as being truths here:
Virgins shouldn’t use tampons.
WRONG. They can, and they won’t break the hymen. The tampon doesn’t go deep in enough.
Having sex on your period guarantees not getting pregnant
WRONG. You still have a chance, albeit smaller then when you are fertile, but still something not worth risking. Plus there are other problems like STDs you have to worry about…
People can tell you are on your period
WRONG. There is no for sure sign you are on your monthly. Don’t be worried others will know. They most likely won’t unless you tell them.
There is no such thing as PMS
WRONG! Don’t let the guys tell you otherwise. There is a for sure change in hormones during your period, and it can lead to mood swings.
